As a writing assignment, my students took traditional fairy tales and wrote in the point of view of the villain from the fairy tale they selected. To add to their creativity, we took the tales (stories) and randomized the words to create symbols for each fairy tale.
Students were asked to come up with a list of words that best describe their parents. They then went onto http://www.wordle.com/ and randomized their list of words in order to then create valentine cards for their parents. Below is what work done on wordle would look like:
I taught my students how to use Movie Maker. All students, including ELL and students on individual education plans did well on this assignment. The students were given a choice to create a video on the environment or on the social condition. They used creative commons pictures and music to put this video together. I am only posting a few examples. Some have errors but for first timers they did well.
Each one of my students wrote a poem fashioned after Margaret Wise Bown's book, "The Important Book". We then decided to take these poems and create our own book....A digital book using Photostory.
