Digital Poetry Books
My students and my teaching partner's students authored their own poems. They each drew a picture, scanned it and used the picture as a background to their poems which they typed on Word. Then the poems were imported into Photostory to create a digital book.

Commercials using Movie Maker
My 10 year old students were to take any commercial that did not deal with food and re-invent it to promote healthy eating. They were to make sure that there was a clear focus to their commercial. This media literacy assignment allowed the students to work cooperatively with others and to be creative. After completing a story board, they used digital cameras to record short clips and then used Movie Maker to create commercials. Using Movie Maker was everyone's first experience. As a class, we reviewed the assignments and discussed areas that needed improvement, such as timing, lighting and focus for topic. Some assignments are posted below.

Literactive--Primary Interactive--and more
Many educators incorporate some kind of technology to engage student learning. With web 2 it is impossible not to find something on the internet that cannot be used to help support a teacher lesson or to engage students with an interactive activity. I decided to search for 'interactive literacy games' and I came across many great sites. You just need the time to peruse all of them. I did look at some and I found the following to be worth a visit
